Business experiences and skills
My name is Marcel Schuurmans.
With over 25 years of experience at Coca-Cola , Unilever , Hilton and Deloitte , I have experienced and led several change projects.
From Revenue Growth Management (RGM), strategy projects, ERP system implementation (SAP), work processes, compliancy (audit-SOX) and integration/transition of departments/activities to other (foreign) locations.
Locally in Brussels, Rotterdam and London, but also in a European/American context.
I am someone who is good at adapting, solving and collaborating with people from different disciplines, nationalities and from every level in the organization.
From a financial, commercial and practical mindset.
With a helicopter view and from strategic thinking.
I am the one who asks the difficult and (positively) critical questions, for the common good.
Proposes and making decisions where necessary.
Reliable in my work and as a person.
From my (commercial) Finance , Sales and project functions , I have worked closely with colleagues from different disciplines ; Finance, Sales, Marketing, Supply-Chain, IT and external customers.
With different nationalities and in an international context. Locally (BE, NL, GB), but also in a European/American context.
From every level within the organizations.
As a result, I have come to know, appreciate and understand a wide variety of perspectives.
In all those years I have also worked a lot with SAP (ERP).
Change keeps us sharp, teaches us a lot, makes us grow (together) and provides variety. “Embrace and drive change.” Not only because you have to, but because you also learn to see for yourself that this is often necessary and good. It also often offers new opportunities. Both business and private for me a great motivation.
However, change should not be an objective in itself. Too much change not only costs (too) much time, energy and money, but can also have the opposite effect. The people and the systems must be able to cope . It must add something significant. The focus on effectiveness is at least as important here as efficiency. In addition to the positive sides of the various change processes that I have experienced, I also got to know the pitfalls.
